If we take into account the number of devices that run on batteries in our house we would put our hands to our heads, because they are more than we imagine. Remote controls, wireless mice, keyboards, gamepads, etc. The case is that, who more who less, has to be buying from time to time a pack of four, eight or more of these mini-batteries.
Surely most of you remember that advertising campaign by Duracell, who came to tell us that his batteries "last and last and last", with that stuffed bunny playing a kind of drum. Well, it seems that those times have passed and that Xiaomi has decided to punch the table (figuratively speaking).
Up to five times longer
When we buy a battery we do not usually look too much at the brand or specifications. We assume that they are all more or less the same and that they will last practically the same. Xiaomi, with these new alkaline AA batteries that it is going to put on the market, wants us to attend to the small details for the first time.
For example in the duration that, they claim, is between two and five times greater than that of a normal battery of other brands that we can find in stores. The case is that the pack of four of these AA batteries will provide us with the equivalent of 2,900 mAh. What amounts to around 60% of the average capacity of a normal smartphone.
In addition to that duration, Xiaomi has made its batteries also lighter, 16 grams each, that is, 33% less compared to models from other brands, which makes them much more manageable and considerably reduce the weight of the appliances where we install them. Taking quick accounts, for a radio, or an old portable console from the 90s (Game Boy for example), means removing the weight of 1.3 normal batteries.
In addition to the above, these XIaomi batteries, which reach the market covered by the Mijia brand, have another advantage in that we usually do not fall when we buy them and it is the fork of temperatures in which it offers optimal operation before losing effectiveness . Unlike other brands and models, these batteries, according to the manufacturer, will allow us to use them in adverse conditions of up to -20º. These new alkaline batteries from Xiaomi will go on sale in China from May 20 at a price (pack of four) of about 2 euros.
